What kind of yoga is taught?

PŪR Mindful Yoga Teacher Training is an interdisciplinary method of training. Our students will benefit from a diverse, innovative top-quality program which teaches you about Hatha and Raja Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Meditation, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Krama, and alignment principles that are accessible to all levels and abilities. It is also an approach that provides an in-depth understanding of the philosophy and history of yoga and balances that with the practical understanding of anatomy and the needs of the mind and body in today’s world.

What kind of yoga will this program prepare me to teach?

This program teaches you about Hatha and Raja Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Meditation, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Krama, and alignment principles that are accessible to all levels and abilities.

Are the course materials included in the price of the trainings?

Yes course materials are part of the price of training.

What if I don’t want to be a teacher?

Becoming a teacher is absolutely not required.  In fact, personal growth should be considered an essential part of the learning process in this course.

I have an injury/special condition- can I take this course?

Yes.  Adjustments can be made with any special conditions or limitations that may be raised within the school’s ability to fulfill the approved course agenda.

Can I take this training if I’m pregnant?

Yes.  Adjustments may be required consistent with any other yoga practice during pregnancy.

What is PŪR’s teacher training cancellation and refund policy?

A $500 deposit is required on application of the program.  If a candidate changes their mind the deposit is not refunded.

Is there a minimum age requirement to take the training?

No. A basic knowledge of Mind-body phenomenon and a minimum one year of yoga practice are required. A willingness to learn is essential.

Students must demonstrate sufficient maturity to undertake a yoga teaching profession, including the capacity to ethically and responsibly manage professional boundaries.

How many students are enrolled in each teacher training at one time?

There are a maximum of 16 individuals taking the teacher training program at any one time. (The workshops that are part of teacher training and are open to public for participation have a limit of only 10 extra drop in participants)

What is your make up policy for time missed?

If for some reason a workshop is missed the student must discuss it further with the Head of the Faculty to determine if time can be made up.

What prior experience or level of practice is required for admission?

How can you have different levels of students participating in the same program?

All students will learn fundamental, intermediate and advanced concepts around yoga, in many instances with more depth than they may have ever learned particularly as it relates to yogic philosophy, deep-rooted traditions and the anatomical components as well as complementary knowledge and principals that are critical to the successful self-growth and teaching of all levels of students in any form of classes, workshops or retreats. Almost all studies being undertaken at PŪR Mindful Teacher Training will be unique to the yoga learning experience for all.

What is the difference between the 300– and 500–hour programs?

The difference between the 300 and 500 hour programs is the addition of mandatory practice as part of the program.

Are you offering 200 hours?

No.  The PŪR Mindful Teacher Training Program only offers 300 and 500 Hour teacher training.

Why aren’t you offering  200-hours?

The PŪR  YOGA team determined the focus of the program would be providing the most advanced, diverse and safe training possible in order to be properly developed for teaching all levels of practioners, with all types of skills and abilities. We believe that 500 hours of learning and personal development is best suited to meet the challenges of teaching and that is why we offer an in-depth, diverse training for students.

How much time will I need to study outside the scheduled program hours?

Approximately 30 Hours for 300-Hours and 50 Hours for 500-Hours

How long will it take me to complete my certification?

It should take 9 months. However, there may be circumstance where this could be approved for longer.

What is the certification process?

Once you complete your training, PŪR Yoga provides you with a certificate. Then you can register with Yoga Alliance.

Will I be able to work with PUR Yoga?

You may have opportunities to teach at PŪR Yoga as part of your program.

Is there credit for yoga teacher training hours completed in another program?

Hours of practice at the PŪR Mindful Teacher Training Program are a required part of the 500-Hour program and must be completed at PŪR YOGA Toronto.

Can I apply my 200–hour training from another school to your 300-Hour program to become a Registered Yoga Teacher 500?

Yes. But it must be from a Yoga Alliance approved school.

The program takes place over 9 months.  You can take longer to do your practice hours. However, there may be circumstance where this could be approved for longer.

What support is available during this entire process?

All teachers are available for follow up discussion on modules as may be required. There are also class resources available at your disposal. 

Will you assist me in my career development?

As in all careers the ability to build networks with others related to your business is critical to developing contacts to further your career. You will have the opportunity to meet all sorts of people as part of the program, both in class and in the studio. In addition, there is a specific module related to how to grow a career in yoga teaching and you will learn tools for effective and creative use of social media and explore branding and practical tools for the day-to-day management of a yoga business.
