Traditional Chinese Medicine meets Hatha Yoga in this mainly floor based, slower practice aimed at releasing tension in the body, mind and spirit. The deeper layers of fascia, connective tissues and joints are targeted through longer held, passive stretching and compression (referred to as “stressing” in the Yin Yoga world), with the physical goals of improving mobility and joint health while activating the body’s rest and digest response. Breath work, mindfulness and subtle energy principles are also explored. Our Yin Yang Flow class incorporates Yin, Hatha and Vinyasa principles, so be sure to read the specific class description below. Suitable for all levels.

Yin Yang Flow: Thursdays 7:00pm-8:00pm with Lisa G (all levels)
YOGA NIDRA, MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION
Yoga Nidra as well as other mindfulness and meditation techniques aim to help relieve mental tension and rumination, which in turn relieves physical disharmony and activates the body’s healing response. While some types of yoga work from the bottom up (first focusing on physical postures as a way of ultimately easing mental tension through the release of physical tension), mindfulness practices operate the other way around, which is great for when you’re feeling fatigued or dealing with physical challenges that may limit movement. Yoga Nidra is done in a lying down position, with a special type of guided meditation that attempts to move practitioners into a state between sleep and wakefulness, as a way of getting in touch with deeper subconscious desires and/or influencing change at the subconscious level. Meditation is usually done in a seated position and uses single pointed concentration techniques such as following the breath, repeating a mantra, focusing on an object such as a candle flame, etc as a way of keeping you in a conscious, wakeful state so that you can learn to find stillness and peace amongst everyday distractions.
Meditation: Thursdays 8:15pm-9:00pm with Ashley starting September 26 2019 (all levels)
Mindfulness & Yoga Nidra: Fridays 6:00pm-7:00pm with Deborah starting September 20 2019 (all levels)

A journey to reset and renew your body, mind and heart. Our bodies are self healing when the nervous system is given space to slow down and rest deeply. With the help of bolsters, blankets and blocks the body surrenders and more easily allows the effects of a stressful lifestyle to soften. Energy healing is a holistic practice that activates the body’s subtle energy systems to remove blocks. By breaking through these energetic blocks, the body’s inherent ability to heal itself is stimulated. Like energy healing, sound therapy also helps the body drop into a healing state, where the vibrations of sound encourage the brain waves from our Beta (highly engaged, thinking) into Delta (relaxed reflection) and Theta (deep hypnotic relaxation). Sage and Palo Santo may be used in this class so please make sure to express if this is not something you wish to partake in. ALL LEVELS
